Blissful Blooms Super Tote, Riley Blake Designs Project Tour

Mar 30, 2022

I love a good tote. I started my sewing journey making bags and slowly transitioned into quilting. So, you could say my first love was bag making, and naturally my stop on the Blissful Blooms Project Tour by Lila Tueller for Riley Blake Designs had to be a tote of some sort!

The Project

It has been many years since I made a Super Tote, one of my favorite patterns from Noodlehead. As soon as I saw this beautiful main floral from the Blissful Blooms line, my very first thought was "Super Tote!". I wanted to see this print front and center on a quilted pocket panel.

The Details

I paired some of the prints from the line with a Navy Linen, also from Riley Blake Designs. The particular prints used from Blissful Blooms are: Main navy, Damask Pink (straps), and Tonal Eggplant (lining and binding).

The front pocket panel was quilted by my friend Megan McCord (@sewcial_misfit on IG) in edge-to-edge Feathers on which I used typical quilt batting. For the remainder of the exterior bag I used By Annies Soft & Stable for extra structure and support.

I feel like I should mention my favorite color is purple, so this line by Lila really spoke to me in a lot of ways. The colors are rich, vibrant, and have so much depth in the prints. If you have a chance to see the line in person at a local quilt shop, I highly recommend it! If not, I really think you could not be disappointed in ordering this online!

I am so happy with how this project turned out. I'm going to be using it to carry my notebooks, clipboards, and other paperwork for our monthly quilt guild meetings since my serious tote was open topped and did not have a zipper as this one does.

I hope you've enjoyed these photos! What do you think of this new line by Lila Tueller? Let me know!

Spot the cat behind the door sleeping on a cardboard scratcher? LOL
