Maker Valley Quilter Box, November 2019

Nov 22, 2019

I purchased my first ever Maker Valley Quilter Box this month! This is something I wish I had done several months ago, but since I already purchase the Sew Sampler each month, I had a hard time deciding to spend money on both.

Unlike Sew Sampler, the Maker Valley Quilter Box doesn't have an obvious "theme" each month that is released prior to shipment, although I will say everything is coordinated and fits well together anyway. (Box value and itemized list at bottom)

The first thing I saw when I opened my box was this amazing canvas "Sew Happy" Tote made by Maker Valley. Its thick and sturdy and has a boxed bottom, which is not the case with most totes this size.

The next thing my eye was drawn to was a beautiful bundle of 7 fat quarters from the Pemberley line by Citrus & Mint for Riley Blake Designs and an off-white Aurifil thread spool. These fabrics are so soft and pretty and themed around Jane Austen (which I love!).

This month's pattern is One Way by Cluck Cluck Sew. Holly from Maker Valley has already made up this pattern in the fabric included in the box and it is so stinkin' cute!! For a throw size, you need 13 fat quarters so I will be getting a few more to make this quilt for myself.

A few other little extras in the box were from Maker Valley - 10 holiday greeting cards, 20 gift tags, and a "procrastiquilter" vinyl sticker (see photo at end). They are great quality and very cute. I actually really appreciate getting these directly before the holidays.

Last but not least, the box included a full size iron rest from The Gypsy Quilter.

I actually have a wireless iron with a dock, so I never need an iron rest BUT I know this is not the case for most people and these are actually pretty handy. If you're like me and don't "need" it, then just put it under your pedal for your sewing machine to keep it from scooting across the floor :)

Box Value:

I paid $57.44 USD for this (box + shipping) and the total value is $87.77

Here is the cost breakdown....
  • Pemberley FQB, $24.50
  • One Way Quilt Pattern, $8.95
  • Sew Happy Tote, $19.00
  • Aurifil Thread, $13.33
  • Silicon Iron Rest, $5.49
  • 10 Holiday Cards, $10.00
  • 20 Gift Tags, $5.00
  • Procrasti-quilter Vinyl Sticker, $1.50

Note: The information paper that came in the box states that December 2019 will be the LAST month ever for the Maker Valley Quilt Box. This makes me soooo sad! I would have definitely continued to subscribe. I feel like the box value and what I received was well worth the money.

Let me know what you think... I have really been into subscription boxes lately. I always love the mix of fabric and notions that I may not have purchased otherwise or didn't even know about.
