If you saw my last post, or have been following me on Instagram (@amistabaker) you'll notice i've been on a bit of a drawstring bag kick the last few days. I made a practice bag from a cute Christmas tree quilt block a couple days ago and last night I finished these super cute Santa Sacks for my kids!
This year we'll be swapping out our stockings for these cute bags. We don't have a fireplace (or a mantle) and no place good to hang a stocking so they always end up on the floor in front of the tree anyways! Usually, I'm frustrated at what I cannot fit into a stocking - I have to buy things I know I can squeeze in. With these drawstring bags, I won't have that issue. I can buy "stocking stuffers" in all different shapes and not worry about how they'll fit.
I used one of my favorite Christmas fabrics for these - "Santa Parade" (from the Garland collection by Cotton & Steel). The blue tops are a super soft Cloud9 Cirrus Solid and the inside print, pictured below, is an amazing pinstripe from Sweetwater for Moda.
I can tell you from experience now, after making these several times, that this is a great tutorial! It's easy to follow one of the simplest drawstring tutorials I've ever tried. Definitely my favorite!
Have you ever made one? What do you use drawstring bags for? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
