Tiny Treaters Project Tour, Riley Blake Designs

May 27, 2021

Happy Wednesday!

There is a brand new Halloween themed fabric line shipping this month from Riley Blake Designs! It's called Tiny Treaters, designed by Jill Howarth (@zippyboro) and I have a project to show off today featuring the line and talking about some of the prints I used.

Tiny Treaters by Jill Howarth

The Fabric

Jill's Tiny Treaters line is packed full of fussing cutting opportunities. I mean nearly EVERY single print in the line has multiple different options for fussy cuts, so if you have a love for English Paper Piecing, or just a love for fussy cut quilt blocks in general you will get a lot of joy from this line! I really enjoy the mix of light and deep hues. My favorite print is probably the candy LOL.

If you're like me, you love Halloween (even more than Christmas, if I do say so myself). October is such a magical time of year in the Midwest. The weather is perfectly cozy and kids dressing up for trick or treat is such a fun time.

The Project

I really wanted to use the fussy cutting opportunities presented in this fabric range to my advantage, and the first pattern that came to mind was Crafty Sacks by Rosie Taylor Crafts. I used a 2.5" fussy cut square from every print that I requested from Riley Blake, with the rest of the fabric being saved for my next Halloween quilt, which I am VERY excited about!

This pattern provides 3 size options and I have made the smallest size, which is actually still quite large. It easily fit all of the half yard cuts I recieved. It's an easy to make bag with clear instructions and also includes different options for panels.

For the back panel I decided to use a single fabric cut and do some wavy quilting on my new Juki TL-2000qi. It was my first time using the machine and I wanted to have a little fun while quilting. As you can see some of the prints in the line include tons of little animal dressed in Halloween costumes and it is the absolute cutest thing ever, I love it so much!

I hope you've enjoyed this project and will checkout the Tiny Treaters line by Riley Blake Designs for your upcoming Halloween projects. It is so charming and fun!
