I'm still here, I promise!

Whew. Life has been busy.

In the past 4 weeks we have attended 2 funerals, a wedding, 2 gymnastics meets, 2 parent teacher conferences, doctors appointments, and a many family functions. Plus, I work weekends and the holidays are VERY quickly approaching and I'm not sure I'm totally ready. I am spent. I have hardly had any time at all to sew (or do laundry, dishes etc) and it is totally wearing on me! I need my creative time to keep me sane.

No-Spend December

I went a little overboard with fabric purchases this November. Really overboard. So for December I will be having a no-spend month. For obvious reasons I will need the extra money for Christmas gifts for the family, but really I realized I had spent too much in November. I won't tell you the total but let's just say I took advantage of many Instagram destash sales, online fabric store sales, and even local quilt shop coupons!

BUT - I will say this... see all that Aurifil thread in the firs picture up top? I got it ALL for $14.00. All of it. How could I pass up that deal??

Have you have had a no-spend period?

It seems like even when I limit myself on fabric purchases that money I saved always ends up going somewhere else anyways! My goal is not to save a certain amount of money, but to simply save. I would like a little "cushion" in my bank account.

And another swap...

My LAST swap for the year is the Herringbone Mug Rug Swap using my pattern that is was recently released. Its a super easy beginner level foundation paper piecing pattern. Even if you haven't joined the swap, you should totally try it! So quick and such a great gift for moms, sisters, teachers, coworkers, etc.

Myself and 30 other swappers will be sending each other one mug rug, a tea or coffee, and a few small extras as a holiday gift! I think it's going to be a great swap.

That's all for now, just wanted to give a bit of a personal update - something I don't normally do, but I have felt a bit guilty about my posts being sporadic for the last couple months. Thanks to everyone who continues to read and comment!

Happy Holidays!

  1. I know what you mean about overspending and needing that no-spend month. It is usually right after I decide that it is time to save that the super amazing deals happen. It is a difficult thing to balance for sure.

  2. I have had periods of no spending. Three years ago my husband lost his job. We took a serious look at need vs. want and discovered we could live a simple life so easily. At the same time I began receiving fabric contributions from friends clearing out closets for various reasons. God's blessings in unexpected ways! Welcome back.

  3. I definitely need to have a no spend month! With Quilt market and festival and sales in general I went a tad overboard the past few months :/ Also way to go on all that Aurifil for $14!
