I love October! It is my favorite month of the entire year. We've got lots of family birthdays to celebrate (including my own and my husbands) and our wedding anniversary. Plus Fall weather gives me life!
For month's Aurifil Artisan Challenge we were tasked with using more than 5 colors of thread on one project. I chose shades 1154, 6738, 1231, 5006, 2115, 2225 in 50 weight. My choice was completely inspired by a fabric bundle I purchased several months ago.
The Pouch
I started this project by grabbing a piece of low volume confetti fabric and interfacing it with Pellon SF101 and fusible fleece, then quilting it. For the quilting, I used all 6 of the Aurifil 50wt. thread shades I had chosen and began by quilting straight lines approx. 2" apart at various angles.
After quilting the first set of lines, I came in with another shade on each side and quilted another line approx. ¼" away from the first.
I intended these lines to be a bit more organic and wonky but my needle to have everything straight kind of won out so the result is somewhere in between LOL. I do have to say I absolutely love this super old piece of confetti fabric I found in an Etsy shop a while back. I hope they reprint it!
The main star of the pouch (in my opinion, next to the quilting) is that amazing glitter vinyl from TheFeltPod on Etsy. It was easy to work with and so ridiculously cute!
The finished pouch dimensions are 5 1/2" x 11" and it's a great size for planner or sewing supplies. You could easily recreate this pouch yourself.
