Valentine's Drawstring Bag

Feb 14, 2017

Just stopping by today to say Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you're all doing well and surrounded by love today (and everyday).

If you're looking for a quick finish project to gift to someone you love today, I whipped up this adorable little Lined Drawstring Bag with a heart block panel earlier today. You can find links to the patterns / tutorials I used below :)

First, I made a 6" heart block using Cluck Cluck Sew's Free Heart Block Tutorial. Personally, I wish I would have made the 5" or 4" block then added some sashing instead so the entire heart was showcased on the bag - just a tip. Depending on the size of bag you're making, you could make various sized hearts using her tutorial.

Then, I made a "Snack" size bag using Jeni Baker's Lined Drawstring Bag pattern. It's the perfect size for storing washi tapes, extra thread spools, small skeins of yarn, mini charm packs, and more! You could also fill it with candy and other treats and gift to your Valentine :)

In other news... I have recently had tension issue with my Janome 3160QDC (its brand new) when using large Aurifil thread spools. After doing some digging through sewing machine forums and such, I found that Janome makes a Special Spool Holder Cap for large thread spools like the one pictured above - it works like a charm!!! And it was inexpensive... so if you're also someone to has issues using Aurifil with your Janome machine and get thread breakage, bird nests, etc please check this out!

That's all I've got for today, Happy Valentines Day to you and yours! :)
